A man and woman killed in a shooting in Dayton Thursday afternoon have been identified.

Jacob Osterhaus, 25, and Emily Stovall, 23, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Dayton police officers were called shortly before 1 p.m. to the 1600 block of Russet Avenue for a report of a shooting.

“Upon arrival they discovered two individuals suffering gunshot wounds,” Maj. Jason Hall said. “Unfortunately both of those individuals succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene.”

Hall said Thursday everyone at the scene is accounted for and investigators are not currently looking for any suspects.

He could not say whether a weapon was recovered at the scene.

A 911 caller reported a woman was laying on the sidewalk in front of a house, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center records.

“She came out yelling help and then it seemed like something happened,” he said.

The caller could not tell whether the woman was breathing. He did not see a shooter.
